Suggestions include physical movements, poses and stretches, breathing exercises, self-care tips and ideas for things to do to lift the energy if you can take a short break.
Some of the exercises and practices will appeal more than others and some will work better for you than others – our aim is to give you a toolkit that you can then use and adapt as you wish.
The course is arranged under seven themes. You can either complete one theme and then move onto the next or you can switch from one to another depending on your circumstances and preferences.
When we are feeling dull and flat, the temptation is to zone out and get through the rest of the day by doing the minimum amount possible. While we know that exercise or taking another form of positive action would probably help, the inertia barrier can feel insurmountable and it’s easy to get into a spiral of negativity.
This course aims to provide ideas for ways to break out of this spiral. All of the suggestions are so quick and easy that they don’t require any preparation and can be done wherever you are. Just doing one thing may give you a lift in itself or may make you feel like doing more.
The suggestions are grouped into the following themes:
With the physical practices, always be mindful of your own body and adapt any pose or exercise as needed to ensure your comfort and wellbeing
We recommend making a note of the ideas that you tried, whether you enjoyed them, whether they helped and how you could incorporate them into your daily routines, with a view to building your own personal set of habits to give yourself a quick lift.
The content includes illustrations with supporting text and within the “Breathe” theme, links to short video practices. The video recordings are by Simon Low, a highly experienced senior yoga teacher (see www.simonyoga.com for more info).
We’d love to hear how you get on!
